Trend Report 1.19.21
This week, we heard from Natalie McGeeney about #SocialMedia trends.
The unpredictable nature of #2020 forced brands to rethink about how they connected with their customers. With consumers looking to social media for everything from content to keep them entertained to the latest news stories, brands found success leveraging social media in new ways. On Facebook, live viewings spiked 50% during lockdown periods, Instagram views surged by 70% and TikTok usage shot up. Even moms were turning to TikTok as a way to discover new products. We also saw ecommerce become an important part of social media with shoppable content such as #Snapchat’s clothing options for your #Bitmoji. As we look to 2021, we’ll continue to see brands find unique and creative ways to engage with their customers on social media. We anticipate live-stream activations, purpose-driven messaging and #UGC will remain an integral part of the marketing strategy this year.
