Marketing strategies continue to evolve as brands look for innovative ways to get customer back to shopping in-store. Amazon is exploring a new physical retail format, with their first ever apparel store launching later this year. They’re hoping to ease traditional pain points for shoppers with a high-tech approach. JC Penny has enlisted SNL star, Melissa Villaseñor, in their latest marketing campaign. The first campaign spot released features Villaseñor as “Penny James” — a JC Penny superfan, wishing the brand a happy 120th birthday. Targeting the value-based shopper, Lululemon plans to debut a trade-in/re-sale program, called “Like New”. The upcoming initiative will allow deal seekers to trade in previously worn items for store credit.
